Aussie star Verry Elleegant has switched from Chris Waller to Francis-Henri Graffard. The Melbourne Cup winner could have her first run in Europe in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville.
Melbourne Cup winner Verry Elleegant has switched to Europe and could make her first start as a Northern Hemisphere trained mare in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville.
Formerly trained by Chris Waller Down Under, the six-year-old won 11 Group 1 races, including the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups but was moved to Francis-Henri Graffard in France so she could contest some of Europe's top races.
Group 1 tests like the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Fillies & Mares Stakes on Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot have both been mentioned as possibilities.
Graffard has tarteged the Deauville Prix Rothschild to launch Verry Elleegant's European adventure, run over a mile for fillies and mares.
After the Deauville run-out Graffard will make a decision on where she runs next but the mare does have an entry for the Leopardstown Irish Champion Stakes on September 10.
"She is well, she might be ready for the Prix Rothschild at Deauville on August 2," said Graffard.
"That will be her first start and then we will take it from there."
