Saw makes a fast buck for lucky Punchestown punter

Sawbuck equalled the record for the longest-priced winner in Irish racing history at Punchestown on Tuesday when landing odds of 300-1.
Prior to his this success, the Luke Comer-trained He Knows No Fear held the record as the longest-priced winner in Ireland, after winning at 300-1 at Leopardstown in August 2020.
Trained by Cheltenham Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle-winning rider Conor O'Dwyer and ridden by his son, Charlie, Sawbuck has now equalled that distinction, after making most of the running for a remarkable win.
Back in 2017, Killahara Castle obliged at 200-1, while the record SP in any race in the United Kingdom is the 250-1 about Equinoctial, who won at Kelso in 1990.
Betting on the Bar One Racing Quick Deposit & Withdraw Maiden Hurdle had the eventual winner priced at 400-1 at one stage, after having shown very little in either code to this point. That included finishing down the field when he had last been seen running on the all-weather at Dundalk last month.
