William Haggas' Maljoom could be heading to the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 14 after winning the German 2000 Guineas.

Newmarket sensation William Haggas has confirmed he will aim to continue his good form at Ascot where Maljoom could go in the St James's Palace Stakes.

Maljoom won the Group 2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen also known as the German 2000 Guineas on Sunday winning the Cologne classic for a third time.

The three-year-old Caravaggio colt went into the race in Germany unbeaten in two career starts after victories at Doncaster and Kempton.
Maljoom messed up the start in the Group 2 worth £84,033 to the winner and looked to all intents and purposes to be out of contention but steadily grew into the race.
Haggas' charge stayed on well from two furlongs out and assumed the lead in the last 100 yards and was driven out to win by Stevie Donohoe.
Maljoom beat Peter Schiergen's Rocchigiani into second place, winning by a cosy one and a quarter lengths in Cologne in the end.
Haggas has won the race twice before with Dupont in 2002 and Brunel in 2004 and now Maljoom will swap Germany for Berkshire and the Royal Ascot meeting which begins on Tuesday, June 14.
He said: "He won well, but I don't know the standard of the opposition.
"He was green at Doncaster and then he won really well at Kempton, so we decided to have a go.
"He missed the break and did it all a bit wrong, but still managed to get up and win nicely. It is a prestigious race and a nice one to win.
"The St James' Palace Stakes is under consideration."
The Royal Ascot meeting runs from Tuesday, June 14 to Saturday, June 18 and is considered the centrepiece to the British flat racing season.
Maljoom could line up in the St James's Palace Stakes which is a Group 1 race which takes place on Tuesday, June 14.
The race is a mile long, worth a cool 283,550 to the winner at Ascot and is broadcast live by ITV Racing.

Charlie Appleby's 2000 Guineas winner Coroebus heads the antepost market with stablemate Native Trail in second favourite. Godolphin also have another fancied runner in the form of Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf victor Modern Games.

Roger Varian's Derby entrant Eydon could also line up.
