Paul Townend riding Sir Gerhard

Day one of the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown and the Planet Sport tipsters have a fistful of red-hot tips to blow the cloudy skies away on Saturday, February 1.

The big highlight of Saturday's cracking day of action is the Irish Gold Cup (1530), but there's also another six races on offer including three more Grade 1s, a Grade 2 and two Listed contests. So it's a card packed with quality.

We begin with a quick list of tips from Leopardstown, and we've pulled out a few reasons why we've picked our selections further down the page.

Don't forget to check out the full racecard, results and live odds in Planet Sport's racing live centre.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

(Please be aware selections could become non-runners after article's first publication)

Saturday's Leopardstown racing tips:

13:15 (Leopardstown) Supersundae

13:50 (Leopardstown) Sainte Lucie

14:25 (Leopardstown) Meetingofthewaters

14:55 (Leopardstown) Majborough

15:30 (Leopardstown) Galopin Des Champs

16:05 (Leopardstown) Midnight It Is

16:35 (Leopardstown) He Can't Dance

13:15 (Leopardstown) Supersundae

Willie Mullins fields five of the eleven in the G1 Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Solicitors Novice Hurdle and the lesser-fancied Supersundae may come out on top.

This gelded son of Authorized finished runner-up in the G1 Lawlor's of Naas Novice Hurdle after breaking his maiden tag at Ballinrobe. Would have finished closer but for a mistake at the last and stepping up in distance can bring about further improvement. Set for a return to winning ways.

Facile Limerick maiden hurdle winner Final Demand is an obvious danger for the Mullins team, while having won the G1 Champion Bumper and G1 Lawlor's of Naas Novice Hurdle fourth Jasmin De Vaux could do better if jumping more fluently.

13:50 (Leopardstown) Sainte Lucie

Willie Mullins has won the Spring Juvenile Hurdle for the past three years and Sainte Lucie can make it four in a row for the Master of Closutton.

The four-year-old gets 8lb from main market rival Hello Neighbour and is selected to come out on top after quickening in the manner of a good filly on her Irish debut at Punchestown over Christmas.

Hello Neighbour was value for more than the narrow winning margin landing the G2 Knight Frank Juvenile Hurdle over course and distance last time. Will need to settle better in the first-time hood but clearly has ability and must be greatly respected.

Runner-up that day Lady Vega Allen could be firmly in the mix once more, along with Bacchanalian who might find the frame representing Declan Queally's in form yard.

14:25 (Leopardstown) Meetingofthewaters

Another Mullins inmate, Meetingofthewaters is 2st12lb lower over hurdles than fences. Prepared for this after a pipe-opener in a Listed handicap chase at this venue last month and is worth considering in the Race And Stay At Leopardstown Handicap Hurdle. Having Rachael Blackmore in the saddle is another big plus.

The winner of that event Perceval Legallois also races off a 8lb lower hurdling mark and must be greatly respected.

Showing improvement Flicker Of Hope has won four of his last five hurdle outings and cannot be ignored after clinging on gamely to deny Backmersackme at Navan in December.

14:55 (Leopardstown) Majborough

Winner of the G1 Triumph Hurdle last year Majborough made a seamless transition to chasing at Fairyhouse last month and can enhance his G1 Arkle claims with a victory in the Irish Arkle Novice Chase.

Stablemate Ile Atlantique rates the pick on form after beating Firefox in the G2 Racing Post Novice Chase at Navan last time. Can provide a bold bid to remain unbeaten over fences.

15:30 (Leopardstown) Galopin Des Champs

Dual Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Galopin Des Champs is Willie Mullins' star chaser and the nine-year-old can claim a third straight success in this prestigious Irish Gold Cup Chase and confirm his superiority over Fact To File on their course and distance G1 Savills Chase match-up.

Fact To File beat Galopin Des Champs mentioned tackling a shorter trip in the G1 John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase during November and rates the obvious threat.

Embassy Gardens looked good winning the G3 Savills New Years Day Chase at Tramore upon return to action and could be one to get involved in the placings, while Monty's Star filled the runner-up spot on that occasion and makes for plenty of each-way appeal with that outing under his belt.

16:05 (Leopardstown) Midnight It Is

Midnight It Is caught the eye when a keeping-on third in a valuable handicap chase at Fairyhouse. Will be suited by a return to racing left-handed and is considered in this tricky to call Ryanair Handicap Chase.

An Peann Dearg won a competitive handicap chase over course and distance on Boxing Day and commands the utmost respect off a 7lb greater rating.

Shanbally Kid looks well-treated on hurdle form. Might post an improved effort with first-time cheekpieces fitted for this initial outing among fences handicap company.

Others to note from an each-way perspective are My Mate Mozzie and Fascile Mode.

16:35 (Leopardstown) He Can't Dance

He Can't Dance always looked in command quickening nicely to produce a winning debut in the jumpers flat sphere at Navan during December. There could be a good deal more to come racing for Gordon Elliott and is selected to get the better of some fancy rivals in the Future Stars Flat Race.

Green Splendour produced a promising debutante effort at Newbury last March and holds solid chances after readily getting off the mark second time out over course and distance.

Narrow Limerick winner I Started A Joke looks set to get involved with further improvement likely.
