Home return at Ascot next up for the Gosden's globetrotting Mishriff

John and Thady Gosden's globetrotter Mishriff has been around the world in search of the top prizes but there is no place like home and he will likely run next at Royal Ascot.

After failing to defend his Saudi Cup crown, Mishriff has had a good rest ready for another season of worldwide exploits.

Mishriff has raced at Ascot before but never at the Royal meeting and owner Prince Faisal's racing advisor, Ted Voute, suggests that this could be made right this season.

He said: "Everything seems good and he's had a good rest following his Saudi Cup run and all things seem to be pointing to Royal Ascot at the moment.

"It has been left to John and Thady, but everything suggests he is going the right way. He's had a bit of R and R after Saudi and he'll be put in the right races at Ascot and probably the same races as last year, the Eclipse, the Juddmonte, all the right races really."

Although never a winner at the prestigious Berkshire track, Mishriff did push Adayar close in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes last July. That is the only time he had proper fast ground at Ascot and Voute is looking forward to ideal summer conditions for the Royal meeting this year.

"He hasn't had the best of luck there, but two of his runs have been on Champions Day when he hasn't had the right ground to suit him," he continued.

"The plan has been to wait till Ascot, but they can change with him, because he can become quite keen to get back to the racecourse and John suddenly says we have to find him something, but the plan so far is to head to Ascot and see how we get on."

Mishriff continues to be a mainstay of the world's top meetings and although dates in Dubai and France are a regular on the Gosden's calendar, Royal Ascot is a date which cannot be missed. The Royal meeting runs from Tuesday June 14 to Saturday June 18 at Ascot racecourse, In Berkshire, England.
