Planet Sport ambassador Harry Cobden warms up for the Cheltenham Festival with seven rides at Sandown on Saturday, March 9. Here's how he thinks he'll get on.
13:15 (Sandown) Through The Ages
I kick off with Through The Ages for Gary Moore. He’s a horse I don’t know too much about but he’s won his last two races well and he looks a good stayer.
He looks a nice ride to pick up and I’m looking forward to it.
13:50 (Sandown) Fire Flyer
It would be fantastic if Fire Flyer could win the EBF Final.
This has been the plan for a while and the fact he was ridden by Keagan Kirkby would make it even more special.
He was one of his favourite horses and it would be a more than fitting tribute if we could win it.
He seems in really good form at home and while I don’t think he’s well-handicapped, I think he’s off a fair mark and there’s still improvement to come.
I’d be a little bit worried about tacky ground, but I’m hoping it won’t be an issue.
14:25 (Sandown) Sans Bruit
I then ride Sans Bruit in the Imperial Cup. I worked and schooled him in the week and he went nicely.
He’s quite a keen type so we’ve stuck a hood on him to keep him calm and hopefully he can go well in this.
We’ll probably drop him out and hope he can pick them off. It’s a very competitive race and I’m hopeful rather than confident.
15:00 (Sandown) Plantaroma
Plantaroma is up next in the mares’ bumper. She’s another I don’t know too much about but she ran pretty well on her debut.
I’d like to think she’ll come on from that and can be competitive.
15:35 (Sandown) Golden Son
Golden Son takes his chance in the handicap chase and hopefully he can go back-to-back after that win at Kempton.
The form has obviously been franked with the runner-up winning the Greatwood Gold Cup last Saturday and we’ve been happy with our lad since.
He’s up three pounds and I do think there’s more to come as we know he’s got plenty of ability.
16:10 (Sandown) Trincomalee
I’m then on Trincomalee for Lucy Wadham. He might be getting on a bit but he’s coming down in the handicap so isn’t badly weighted on his best form.
If he can reproduce his run at Sandown last time he wouldn’t be without a chance.
16:40 (Sandown) Can You Call
We round things off with Can You Call. He was slightly disappointing last time at Ludlow but the handicapper has given him a bit more of a chance on the back of that.
If he’s in good form, he should run his race.
