Harry Cobden’s Planet Sport Bet blog: Stay Away Fay has massive chance in Scottish Grand National at Ayr

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Harry Cobden previews his seven rides on day two of Ayr’s Scottish Grand National meeting on Saturday, April 20.

13:50 (Ayr) Mofasa

I kick-off Scottish Grand National day off with Mofasa, who’s interesting off his current mark. Like Hugos New Horse on Friday, this is his second run since his wind-op.

I think the track will suit him and hopefully we don’t get loads of rain, because I think he’ll be a much better horse on a sounder surface.

14:25 (Ayr) Rubaud

It’s great to get back on Rubaud to defend his Scottish Champion Hurdle crown. He skipped around there last year off a lighter weight but faces a much harder task on Saturday having shot up the handicap this season.

It’s going to be a very tough ask, but he’s very consistent and is the best horse in the race.

15:00 (Ayr) Larchmont Lass

Larchmont Lass is another very consistent type who’s snuck in at the bottom of the weights here.

I think she should handle the track and isn’t badly handicapped at all. She probably ran better than the result at Newbury last time out and I think she can run a nice race.

15:35 (Ayr) Stay Away Fay

I can’t wait to ride Stay Away Fay in the Scottish Grand National. Put a line through his run in the Brown Advisory where he simply didn’t turn up.

His form from earlier in the season was fantastic, particularly looking at his beatings of Grey Dawning and Giovinco. I think he’s got a massive chance as the ‘graded horse in a handicap’ if bouncing back to form.

16:10 (Ayr) Welcom To Cartries

After the big one, I partner Welcom To Cartries who’s a horse I really like a lot.

He’s improved recently and felt as good as he’s ever felt when I schooled him on Tuesday. He’s my best chance of a winner on Saturday.

16:45 (Ayr) Jetronic

My penultimate ride on the card is Jetronic. He did well to win at Plumpton last time out and I like him as he’s a very straightforward horse.

This is a competitive little handicap, but he’s definitely got a good chance and I wouldn’t put you off him.

17:20 (Ayr) Histrionic

To finish the card and the Scottish Grand National meeting, I ride Histrionic in the Ayr finale on Saturday.

He’s been really disappointing to be honest, as he came to us with a big reputation.

I was very pleased with his first run, but he bombed out at Newbury last time for obvious reason. Hopefully he’s fresh and well, and he can bounce back from that.

Scott Marshall, who’s ridden the likes of Bravemansgame and Clan Des Obeaux, rides him every day and thinks he’s got lots of ability, which is a positive.
