Friday’s ITV Racing tips: Best bets for Epsom on Oaks day

ITV Racing are all over the Epsom Cazoo Oaks meeting on Friday, June 3 and Planet Sport have tips from all the races on the Downs covered by Ed Chamberlain and co.

Nothing says the start of summer like Epsom's Derby Festival on the first weekend of June, and this time it accompanies the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. To get the weekend's festivities underway in style, Planet Sport has some cracking tips for Friday's televised racing.

Click on Planet Sport's Live Race Centre which is an excellent online accompaniment to ITV Racing's coverage, including race cards.

Here's a quick list of Planet Sport's picks from the five Epsom races covered by ITV Racing on Friday, June 3.

Blatant (14:00 Epsom)

Excel Power (14:35 Epsom)

Manobo (15:10 Epsom)

Soto Sizzler (15:45 Epsom)

Emily Upjohn (16:30 Epsom)

Plus here's some more juicy detail on Planet Sport's picks on the ITV Racing televised heats at Epsom on Oaks Day.

14.00 Epsom - Blatant

Blatant has an obvious chance of taking the six furlong Cazoo Woodcote British EBF Stakes.

By top Aussie sprinter Brazen Beau, the Eve Johnson Houghton trained speedster was a ready winner at Leicester last time out where he made all the running to prevail by three and a quarter lengths.
Charles Bishop keeps the ride on this distance victor who has an entry for the Weatherby's Super Sprint and is obviously well thought of.

14.35 Epsom - Excel Power

Hollie Doyle is bidding to become the first female rider of a Classic when she rides Nashwa in the Oaks and she can warm up with a win in the World Pool Handicap.

Archie Watson's Excel Power is in red hot form and chasing the four timer after victories at Chelmsford, Haydock and Windsor.
That Windsor win came by three lengths and and a six pounds raise shouldn't stop the Slide Power gelding with the decent Doyle on board.

15.10 Epsom - Manobo

There's no doubt that Pyledriver is a quality individual but also hasn't troubled the top three in his last couple of races.

Charlie Appleby's Manobo is in good form however after wintering in the UAE. Most of the Sea The Stars four-year-old's form is over longer than Friday's one mile, four furlong trip but the gelding did beat subsequent Derby second Mojo Star on debut over a mile and two.

It might be a close one but if Pyledriver needs the run, Manobo's stamina could come to the fore in the Dahlbury Coronation Cup.

15.45 Epsom - Soto Sizzler

A warm day is forecast at Epsom and Soto Sizzler can turn up the heat in the Cazoo Handicap.

David Menuisier is growing force and his course and distance winner can follow up over a mile and two on the Downs.
Ryan Moore took the reins for the seven-year-old's win at Epsom in April and keeps them here and you don't get much better jockey bookings.

16.30 Epsom - Emily Upjohn

Planet Sport have been fans of Emily Upjohn from the start and we aren't going to ditch the filly that oozes class just because the Cazoo Oaks field is competitive.

The Sea The Stars filly has won her last two races at the combined winning distance of 15 lengths and couldn't have been more impressive last time out in the Musidora at York.

Frankie Dettori is up top once more and there is only one filly to be on and that is Emily Upjohn for John and Thady Gosden.
