Five outsiders to follow at the US PGA Championship

Bryson DeChambeau joins LIV Golf as PGA exodus continues

With eight or more each-way places on offer for the PGA Championship, Tipstrr golf pundit Brendan Skilling appraises a few less fancied but very capable golfers who could make their mark at Oak Hill.

Bryson DeChambeau

After his LIV Tour compatriots Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson and Patrick Reed caught the headlines at Augusta, it may well be the turn of the big-hitting Californian at Oak Hill with its similarities with Winged Foot, the site of Bryson DeChambeau's 2020 US Open victory.
Back then, his superior firepower gave him a huge advantage in attacking the raised greens from both the fairway and the rough.
He's struggled to hit the heights since then but after surgery in February and some notable weight loss, his game is back on the up, as demonstrated by his fifth-place finish at LIV Tulsa last weekend.
Suggested bet: Bryson DeChambeau each-way in the US PGA Championship

Keegan Bradley

2011 PGA champion Keegan Bradley is always one to keep in mind for this sort of tough assignment.

His two top 10's this year have both come at venues where accuracy is key and birdies are at a premium, Torrey Pines and Bay Hill.
Bradley finished 17th in last year's event at Southern Hills, and he also finished seventh in the US Open at The Country Club, another North-Eastern classical design.

Gary Woodland

Gary Woodland is playing some of the best golf on tour at the moment without the results to show for it, and he ranks in the top 10 for strokes gained off the tee and on approach.
Should his putter warm up even slightly, he's a huge threat this week at a venue that suits (he was 12th on his PGA debut at this course in 2011).
The 2019 US Open champion has recorded two top 10 PGA finishes including an eighth place at Bethpage Black in 2019 on a similar set up and conditions to this week.
Suggested bet: Gary Woodland each-way in the US PGA Championship

Matt Kuchar

Veteran Matt Kuchar may not have the distance from the tee to win this event, but he makes up for this with unerring accuracy and possesses one of the best all round short games in the world.
He's been a model of consistency with nine top 20 finishes in the past year, while he has more Major experience than most, recording 12 top 10 finishes throughout his career in golf's showpiece events, including an eighth-place finish at the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black.

Harris English

At odds of around 150/1 in most golf betting markets, Harris English may be one of the best bets of the week here at Oak Hill. After a couple of poor seasons, he looks to be on the verge of returning to his form of 2021, when his two tour wins earned him a spot in the US Ryder Cup team.

He arrives here after a third place in his last outing at Quail Hollow, and he's also finished third and fourth in two of his last three US Opens, including that 2020 edition at Winged Foot.
Suggested bet: Harris English each-way in the US PGA Championship
