Epsom Oaks News: Emily Upjohn heads tip-top twelve confirmed for fillies' Classic
It looks to be a vintage Classic in store as 12 have been confirmed for the Epsom Cazoo Oaks on Friday, June 3. The Gosdens' Emily Upjohn heads the market but with serious layers of quality behind.
There's no downward momentum for John and Thady Gosden's Emily Upjohn as the filly tops the list of twelve confirmed for the Epsom Cazoo Oaks on Friday, June 3.
The Gosdens' Sea The Stars filly was an impressive winner of the Musidora Stakes under Frankie Dettori and will likely go off extremely short at Epsom.
John Gosden has won the one mile, four furlongs fillies' Group 1 on three occasions via Taghrooda, Enable and Anapurna and will bid for a fourth in conjunction with his son Thady, who he co-trains with.
Ironically, the greatest challenger to Emily Upjohn could be stablemate Nashwa, due to be ridden by Hollie Doyle, a Frankel filly of tremendous quality, who prepped for the Oaks by winning the Haras De Bouquetot Fillies' Trial Stakes in good style.
Meanwhile, there will be a significant Irish challenge for the Classic from Aidan O'Brien, who has an epic nine Oaks wins under his belt.
As expected, Godolphin have an interesting runner in the form of Charlie Appleby's consistent With The Moonlight who was a strong winner of the Pretty Polly at Newmarket last time out.
Joseph Patrick O'Brien will be trying to out-do his dad by sending Australia filly Tranquil Lady to the Downs with the three-year-old another comfortable winner in the Oaks build-up after a four lengths victory in the Group 3 Blue Wind at Naas.
The unbeaten Dubawi filly was a 15/2 winner of the Linfield Oaks Trial and booked her place in this year's Epsom Oaks with a game head success over George Boughey's Mystic Wells.
What a turn of foot! 🤩
