Sedgefield nap February 24: Larry can lick 'em on testing ground

It’s very testing ground at Sedgefield on Thursday, February 24, which is where Planet Sport’s Jonathan Doidge is venturing to nap a horse whose jockey booking looks significant.
Few jockeys know how to ride quirky Sedgefield than Brian Hughes and we're siding with the champion elect for our Thursday selection.
Lickpenny Larry relishes deep ground and he runs in the eight-runner Carpet Gallop Supporting Racing 01785719991 Handicap Chase (16:40), over 2m1f.
Trained by Tom Gretton, Lickpenny Larry has won five of his 32 starts and it seems that when Hughes is booked for the ride, the 11-year-old responds well.
The Irishman has been on board just twice, finishing second in the first of those at Bangor, and then winning comfortably at Leicester (2m, heavy) 11-months ago.
He's 8lb lower than that winning mark now, having not won in six subsequent starts. However, five of those six runs have been over further and, now dropping back to this trip, and with the benefit of Hughes up, he is taken to score.
So it's Lickpenny Larry in the 16:40 at Sedgefield on Thursday.
