Popular trainer Alan King chalked another one up for the Brits as Edwardstone took the 2022 Sporting Life Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase.

Alan King's consistent Edwardstone took the 2022 Sporting Life Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase.
The eight-year-old ran on to an imposing four and a quarter length win from Gavin Cromwell's Gabynako
It was the second favourite in a row to go in on the first day at Cheltenham with King's 5/2 fancy jumping brilliantly throughout.
Willie Mullins' Blue Lord came third as the Irish trainer had done in the first race of the day.
It was not entirely straightforward for the 5-2 favourite, as he almost came unstuck at the fourth fence when Brave Seasca fell, taking out Saint Sam.

At the last, Edwardstone bumped leader Riviere D'etel but soon imposed himself. Edwardstone showed his strength by running on to nail a four and a quarter lengths victory from Gabynako.

The result makes it 2-0 to the hosts so far in the Britain v Ireland clash which characterises the meeting.

The victory was King's third Arkle win after Voy Por Ustedes (2006) and My Way De Solzen (2007).
