Ayr top racing tip: Asmund ready to convert recent progress into first season win

Scottish Grand National at Ayr
There’s plenty in with a decent shout of making the frame in this open-looking handicap, and the word in the Tipstrr camp is that the improving Asmund looks set to build on his recent showings.

The two market leaders, Jkr Cobbler and Darbucks, look to resume the battle that saw the former win by just a neck over this course and distance a week ago.
The winner pays the price with a five-pound penalty, and while that improves Darbucks' chances of reversing that result, it also opens the door for a challenge for the other eight runners.

Lurking under the radar is Declan Carroll's
Asmund, who is showing signs of recapturing the kind of form that landed two impressive wins at Doncaster and Redcar towards the end of last season.
The latter of those came in similar conditions to here and off exactly the same mark, and he made light work of leaving runner-up more than three lengths adrift and the remaining 16 rivals strung out behind.
Suggested bet: Asmund each-way in the 16:50 race at Ayr
His rider that day was Harrison Shaw, who returns to the saddle today in the hope of building on the progress Asmund has made since looking below par in his first four outings.
Two third-placed finishes in the last month have given encouraging signs of improvement, and he is expected to go well here again now there is some cut in the ground.
Of the outsiders, top-weighted
Guest List could benefit significantly from the seven-pound claim of William Pyle, with that allowance coming on top of the four-year-old filly starting off her lowest ever mark.
