Aintree Festival 2023: Maghull Novices’ Chase tips - Jonbon looks untouchable in day three opener

With two days and 14 quality races behind us, the Aintree Festival has just seven races left for Tipstrr’s team of experts to point us towards some top-value bets as we build up to the Grand National.

Grand National Day kicks off with the Maghull Novices' Chase which promises to provide the perfect curtain raiser to an afternoon of high-quality racing.

Thursday's Aintree Bowl winner Shishkin added this race to his CV in 2021, while last year Gentleman De Mee added yet another win to the Willie Mullins honours board.
Jonbon's only two defeats have been at the hands of the imperious Constitution Hill over hurdles and the exciting El Fabiolo over fences, and none of his four rivals here are anywhere near that standard.
The small field should reduce the chances of any unforced errors, and although the other runners will have their own game plans in place, Jonbon's quality should be enough to see him home with room to spare.

Suggested bet: Jonbon in the 13:45 at Aintree

An odds-on favourite always creates enticing prices elsewhere, and in such a small field in testing conditions, some punters follow the tactic of plumping for the biggest outsider.
Fusain is unlikely to be anywhere near Jonbon, but he does come off two low-key wins and he does have Brian Hughes in the saddle, so he might just be worth a silly quid each-way.

Each-way punt: Fusain in the 13:45 at Aintree
