Adayar to miss Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe; William Buick set to ride Mishriff at Arc

Charlie Appleby has revealed that Adayar will not run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday and will instead be rerouted to British Champions Day where he will take on Baaeed.

The 2021 Derby and King George hero has only been seen once since a disappointing fifth in Ascot's 10-furlong Group One last season, but following a taking comeback in a three-runner affair at Doncaster, Adayar is reported to be firing on all cylinders ahead of his next run.
After his successful return at Town Moor, Appleby stated he was tempted by a trip to the French capital for another go at Europe's richest middle-prize prize and a race the son of Frankel finished fourth in 12 months ago.
However, an unsettled forecast across the channel has led connections to have a rethink and Ascot will now be Adayar's next port of call.
A tweet on Godolphin's Twitter account stated: "Following discussions yesterday, it has been decided that Adayar will miss the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and will instead head to the Champion Stakes at Ascot, where conditions are likely to suit him better."
The decision saw his odds for the Champion Stakes cut to 7-2 from 5-1 by Coral, who also trimmed Luxembourg for the Arc to 100-30 from 4-1.
Baaeed is their 1-4 favourite to end his career unbeaten at Ascot.

Buick set for Mishriff Arc ride

William Buick, meanwhile, is likely to team up with Mishriff for the first time at ParisLongchamp.

The John and Thady Gosden-trained colt was last seen finishing fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes on heavy ground at Leopardstown, with Colin Keane doing the steering on that occasion.
Prior to that he was second and third in the Juddmonte International and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes respectively, with James Doyle the jockey on board during each of those performances.
Formerly the retained ride of David Egan, who was in the employ of owner Prince Faisal earlier in the season, Mishriff will have another new pilot in Buick.
The duo will take their place in a large-field, open-looking Arc that could be run on testing ground as significant rainfall is expected in Paris.
"He's in good order and I think William Buick will be riding him," Gosden senior told Sky Sports Racing.
"The ground was sticky and holding in Ireland and he wasn't in love with that, but he was doing his best work at the end.
"He got a little bit out of it, he has won over a mile and a half, he's won a Prix du Jockey Club, he's won on soft ground.
"I'm perfectly aware of the quality of the race but it doesn't have an outstanding star in it, to that extent a lot of people have been tempted.
"He's pretty experienced, he's been around the world this horse, we haven't been frightened wherever he's run. He's won Saudi Cups, he's raced in France, he's raced in Ireland, he's raced in England - he's very international.
"He's run on dirt, on soft turf, on heavy turf as a two-year-old at Nottingham, and firm ground and sand tracks.
"He's a very versatile horse and all being well, he'll be going to stud in France at the end of the season."
