Eddie Hearn confirms Conor Benn boxing return with Chris Eubank Jr among two potential opponents

Matchroom Boxing supremo Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Conor Benn will return to the ring in the early stages of 2023.

The Brit was scheduled to fight Chris Eubank Jr in a huge catchweight bout in October at a sold-out O2 Arena.

But the bout was called off during fight week after it was revealed that Benn had tested positive for the banned substance clomiphene. It later emerged that there was a second positive test earlier in the summer.

Benn claims he's cleared his name as a 200-plus page document has been sent off to the WBC and VADA to explain the reasons for the positive tests.

The governing bodies have not responded, but with Benn yet to receive a ban, Hearn has insisted that his fighter will return soon.

"Conor Benn's going to return either early 2023 or mid-2023, that's a fact," Hearn stated via The DAZN Boxing Show earlier this week.
Hearn went into more detail to explain why Benn is currently feeling "frustrated".
"Conor is very frustrated right now," Hearn added.
"Tough luck… But he submitted all the evidence to clear his name and now we're waiting on VADA and the WBC to make their decision.
"We want that decision as soon as possible. But the fact is that Conor Benn can fight-not anywhere in the world-but most places in the world right now. He's not banned by anyone. He can apply for a license [anywhere]. We don't want that. We want the hearing.
"This is why we want to go through the process so that people can see the facts.
"A decision can be made, it can either clear his name, he can receive a ban, which I do not think will be the case, and he can progress with his career. He can progress with his career now. But we want his case to be heard because otherwise, you'll have people just accept that."
Benn has been going back and forth with Gervonta Davis in recent days. The American was recently jailed on a charge of battery domestic violence but the accuser has retracted their claims.
Hearn "loves" the Benn-Davis fight and he also recognises that a bout against Eubank Jr is one of the biggest in the sport.
"I love the fight between Gervonta Davis and Conor Benn," Hearn continued.
"Why not? Gervonta Davis has boxed at lightweight and I'm sure he wouldn't mind fighting at 147 or close to [it]."
"I think that the Chris Eubank fight is one of the biggest fights in boxing.
"Gervonta Davis is another huge fight. I've never even thought about that fight and now you see the back and forth and you think yeah, yeah, those two together would be fireworks."
