Conor Benn hints at date for comeback fight after pleading with governing bodies to ‘clear his name’

Conor Benn has hinted that he intends to return to the ring “early next year” despite him recently failing two drug tests.

The Brit was due to face Chris Eubank Jr in a huge domestic grudge match on October 8. But during fight week, it was revealed that Benn had tested positive for the banned substance clomifene.

It later emerged that Benn had tested positive for the same substance once before in the summer but this was kept secret ahead of his scheduled bout against Eubank Jr.

Benn tested positive through VADA but he has recently submitted a 270-page document to the WBC to try to clear his name.
It is suspected that Benn's team are using contamination as an explanation for the positive tests but details from the document are yet to emerge.

Benn is clearly getting restless as he has pleaded with VADA and the WBC to let him continue his career.

"@Vada_Testing / @WBCBoxing I need to get on with my career," Benn wrote on Twitter.

"When will there be an explanation? My name deserves clearing and I can't keep waiting while you carry out your internal investigation…"
'The Destroyer' later responded to a fan who asked when he will fight again.
"Early next year bud (praying hands emoji)."
Whether Benn gets a ban or not, it feels inevitable that the Eubank Jr fight will happen at some stage in the future.
The bout was already big enough due to the two past clashes between their fathers. But this drug scandal has added more fuel to the fire and there is too much money on the table for this fight not to happen down the line.
Eubank Jr has moved on, at least in the short term. He is set to face fellow Brit Liam Smith at Manchester Arena on January 21. This bout will be broadcast via Sky Sports Box Office in the United Kingdom.
