Amir Khan eyes easy Jake Paul payday as retired boxer ‘would love’ to ‘beat up’ the YouTuber

Former world champion Amir Khan has called out YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul as he wants to “beat up” the ‘Problem Child’.

Paul has caused quite a stir since he burst onto the boxing scene.

He has wins over MMA greats such as Nate Diaz and Tyrone Woodley, but he was beaten on points by Tyson Fury’s younger brother – Tommy Fury – in the first defeat of his career earlier this year.

Khan meanwhile has not fought since he was beaten by British rival Kell Brook via stoppage after six rounds in a huge event at Manchester Arena in February 2022.

It has since been revealed that Khan has received a backdated two-year ban after testing positive for the banned substance ostarine ahead of his bout against Brook.

Khan’s ban lasts until April 2024, and he seemingly already has his eyes on a return as he has called out Paul.

"Jake Paul, he gets on my nerves a little bit," Khan told Heart Breakfast with Jamie and Amanda.

"I think the way he conducts himself the way he acts and he’s just full of himself as well and he thinks he can fight, he’s only been boxing for like a year, so yeah, I’d love to fight him.

“He’s been very lucky though, he’s a little bit heavier than me but I don’t mind putting the pounds on just to beat him up."

Paul is hated more than he is liked but he has done a lot of positive work to promote women’s boxing and campaign for fighter rights in the UFC.

Gervonta Davis is one of the biggest stars in boxing at the moment and he has admitted that he “respects” Paul.

“At first I didn’t like how Jake Paul was coming because of how he was making it look,” Davis said.

“Though I still think he’s a clown because that’s his personality, I respect him because he’s not doing it for the hype, he is really trying to be a boxer.

“I think he’s decent. He’s not good, but he’s going that way. You’ve got to be mentally tough to box, that’s why I don’t take anything away from people who have jumped into the sport.”
