Panthers @ Bears tips, picks and prop bets: Back Chicago to rush their way to victory

The Chicago Bears (2-6) host the Carolina Panthers (1-7) at Soldier Field for Thursday Night Football (Fri 0115 GMT).

Panthers @ Bears game pick

This is not the most glamorous Thursday Night Football you’re likely to see, but there’s still money to be made at Soldier Field.

The Panthers got off the mark at the eighth time of trying as they beat the Houston Texans 15-13 but they were back in the losing column against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Bears have been almost as bad but they have at least been competitive enough to cover the spread in three of five.

Chicago have struggled their way to 17 or fewer points in five of their seven losses and it could be a similar story against Carolina.

Undrafted rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent will fill in for Justin Fields and it’s worth noting the Panthers are the fifth-best pass defence, limiting teams to 178 yards per game.

However, they still find a way to allow the most ppg in the league. Their rush defence is particularly weak and that is something the Bears can exploit.

D’Onta Foreman has rushed for 287 this season, while Khalil Herbert has made 272. Bagent scrambled for 70+ yards just last week.

We aren’t expecting this to be pretty but the Panther's defence should limit the pass and these teams lack weapons, so that should keep the score down.

Bet: Under 40.5 points / Chicago Bears -1.5

Panthers @ Bears prop bets

At the time of writing, Herbert is back but still on injured reserve. He could play but if he doesn’t it’s a void bet, so we’ll take a chance on him. He should walk through the Panthers.

Prop: Khalil Herbert over 43.5 rushing yards

Bagent has made 97 yards across 17 carries, most of which came last week as he did his best Fields impression. There should be gaps to exploit in Carolina’s defence.

Prop: Tyson Bagent over 19.5 rushing yards
