Chargers @ Jets tips, picks and prop bets: Battling New York defence to lead hosts to a cover

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson

The Los Angeles Chargers (3-4) travel to MetLife Stadium to square off with the New York Jets (4-3) on Monday Night Football (0115 GMT Tues).

Chargers @ Jets game pick

After a slow start to the season, the LA Chargers are finding their feet. They’ve won three of five and put forth a solid effort in a 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.

Justin Herbert completed 31 of 40 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns in the 30-13 win over the Chicago Bears.

He also produced 486 yards across two games against the Chiefs and Cowboys and has completed 69% of passes in the past fortnight.

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has struggled in comparison, but his team have won three straight and lost by more than a touchdown on just one occasion.

If the hosts can win this game then it’s likely to be on the back of good defence. The Chargers are efficient, but New York ranks fourth in yards per play.

We’ve seen several close games involving the Jets this season and we’re expecting their defence to keep them in this one.

Bet: New York Jets +3.5

Chargers @ Jets prop bets

The Jets just held the Giants to eight passing yards. That was a total mismatch of styles and the Giants only made eight attempts.

They held both Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Jalen Hurts (Eagles) well below their season averages on home field. Herbert is flying, but we expect regression.

Prop: Justin Herbert under 250.5 passing yards

Zach Wilson’s lower yardage can be attributed to making better decisions on the ball. He’s sticking to safe passes and thus throwing it away less often.

Prop: Zach Wilson under 0.5 interceptions
