Jets @ Browns tips, picks and prop bets: No mistakes from playoff-chasing hosts

Cleveland Browns QB Joe Flacco

The Cleveland Browns (10-5) can secure their spot in the playoffs with a win against the New York Jets (6-9) on Thursday Night Football (Fri 0015 GMT).

Aaron Rodgers has thrown his final pass for the 2024 season. With the New York Jets (6-9) out of playoff contention, their star quarterback is sitting this one out.

The FirstEnergy Stadium is expectant as the Cleveland Browns (10-5) have the opportunity to secure their playoff place with a win.

That shouldn’t be too hard against a Jets team that has struggled on offence.

With Zach Wilson battling a concussion, they could trot out third-choice quarterback Trevor Siemian.

Their 14th-ranked defence has kept them in games at times, but they rank 20th in scoring, averaging around 14 points per game.

On the other hand, the Browns are marginally better on defence but a whole lot better on offence, averaging 23 points per game.

Both of these teams have handed starts to three different quarterbacks this season but veteran Joe Flacco has led them on their current three-game win streak.

These teams are in very different moods and the momentum counts for a lot, as does motivation. Do the Jets have it in them to battle back if this game goes south?

The home side also has to look ahead and consider just how much tougher it’ll be against the Bengals if they let this chance pass them by.

Suggested bet: Cleveland Browns -8

Jets @ Browns prop bets

Joe Flacco has taken over during this win streak so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the veteran put up some big numbers on Thursday. He’s attempted 42, 44 and 45 passes through three wins.

Prop: Joe Flacco over 36.5 pass attempts

Flacco has thrown for over 300 yards in all of those wins and a big reason for that was having Amari Cooper to aim for. He went for 265 yards last week and 109 the week before.

Prop: Amari Cooper over 57.5 receiving yards
