Cristiano Ronaldo: How many goals will the Portugal forward bag against minnows Liechtenstein?

Portugal enter Thursday’s match with an emphatic record in their European Championship qualifying group.

Roberto Martinez and his men have won all eight qualifying fixtures, scoring 32 goals and conceding just two.

Nine of those goals were scored by Ronaldo who is just one strike behind Romelu Lukaku in the qualifying golden boot race.

The forward has scored a record-breaking 127 goals in 203 international outings, with Iran’s Ali Daei currently in second place with 109 efforts.

However, Ronaldo will undoubtedly look to improve those numbers as Portugal take on bottom-of-the-group Liechtenstein.

The minnows have lost all eight of their group games and scored just one goal in the process.

While Portugal have already bagged a ticket to Euro 2024, there’s no reason Ronaldo couldn’t start this fixture as he continues to have his eyes fixed on his international record.

Interestingly, Ronaldo has a great record against nations which start with the letter ‘L’.

Ronaldo’s best two opponents are Luxembourg and Lithuania having scored 11 and seven goals against those nations. In fact, his last three hat-tricks have come against those countries as well.

The Al Nassr forward has already scored two career goals against Liechtenstein, and he could add to that total if given playing time by Martinez.

During the previous international break, Ronaldo scored four goals across Portugal’s two qualifying matches against Slovakia and Bosnia.

Since then, the forward has scored four goals in six matches for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
