ATP Estoril: Nuno Borges vs Lorenzo Musetti

Home hero Nuno Borges is set for a tough test when he takes on No 3 seed Lorenzo Musetti.

Musetti is among the top title contenders in Estoril having steadily improved his form in recent weeks.

Musetti snapped a losing streak at Indian Wells and put in a decent effort in Miami.

Borges hasn't won on the ATP Tour since the stop-off in Los Cabos after a promising Australian Open run.

ATP Estoril: Richard Gasquet vs Dominic Thiem

Former Estoril champion Richard Gasquet takes on a Grand Slam winner to start and will do well to get beyond a resurgent Dominic Thiem.

Thiem leads the head-to-head against Gasquet 3-2 after he lost the opening two matches in the rivalry.

Thiem beat Gasquet in Monte Carlo last term in a straightforward win on clay.

This match could be a repeat of that affair with Thiem looking good to come through the clash.

ATP Houston: Ben Shelton vs Zizou Bergs

Ben Shelton and Zizou Bergs have a showdown in Houston with the former out to keep the home flag flying.

This will be the first-ever meeting between these two players at any level.

Shelton is ranked 95 places above Bergs who only really has an edge in experience on clay.

Bergs beat American Patrick Kypson in the first round while Shelton enjoyed a bye.

ATP Houston: Brandon Nakashima vs Rinky Hijikata

Brandon Nakashima and Rinky Hijikata's only singles meeting to date came in the 2018 Junior French Open.

Nakashima won that clash between the players five years ago but is currently ranked below Hijikata.

Nakashima has been doing Challenger duty this season to try to restore his ranking.

This tournament provides him with a good chance to rehab that ranking further and he should have the edge over Hijikata.

WTA Charleston: Caroline Wozniacki vs Anhelina Kalinina

Caroline Wozniacki will have her work cut out for her getting beyond No 15 seed Anhelina Kalinina.

Wozniacki cut an imposing figure in her opening win in Charleston though and Kalinina will be facing her cold.

Kalinina enjoyed a bye through the first round but did beat Wozniacki last week.

Wozniacki should have the experience to turn things around against Kalinina this time.

WTA Charleston: Elina Svitolina vs Daria Saville Gavrilova

Elina Svitolina vs Daria Saville Gavrilova will write the tenth chapter of their singles rivalry on 3 April.

Svitolina sports a big 7-2 lead in the head-to-head between these players.

However, these two have not faced off since back in 2019 with Gavrilova having injury struggles and Svitoliona taking time away from the game to start a family.

Svitolina should still retain the edge she has held over Gavrilova historically.

WTA Charleston: Emma Navarro vs Katie Volynets

Emma Navarro will still need to get used to being seeded in a tournament like this which brings its own set of challenges.

Navarro is yet to hit the court in Charleston while Volynets has already put a win on the board.

Volynets also owns a head-to-head win over Navarro albeit not at WTA Tour level and from a couple of years ago.

Since then Navarro has been on a sharp rise and looks to be the favourite here.

WTA Charleston: Shelby Rogers vs Veronika Kudermetova

The closest to being a true hometown hero, Shelby Rogers has a nightmare opponent in the red-hot Veronika Kudermetova.

Kudermetova is seeded No 9 for this tournament and enjoyed a bye through the first round.

This will be the fourth time that these players share the court on the WTA Tour with Rogers leading 2-1 heading into the clash.

Kudermetova has enjoyed the better year but a lot of that is down to her playing in more tournaments with Rogers winding down her schedule at this stage of her career.
