French Open 2023 tips: Men's singles day three guide and suggested bets

Expect plenty of action when the first round of the men's draw at the French Open continues on Tuesday. Check out our suggested bets for selected games, including Elias Ymer vs Casper Ruud.

The French Open continues on Tuesday, 30 May with play starting at 11:00 local time (10:00 BST) across all of the courts weather permitting.

Action will be split across the Stade Roland Garros' three show courts and its expanded sprawl of outside courts.

Day three guide - Selected men's matches

(All times subject to change)

Elias Ymer vs Casper Ruud - Tuesday 30 May, 10am

Fourth seed Ruud will hope to go one better than last year, where he lost to Rafael Nadal in the final. He is not been quite as impressive as 12 months ago, coming into the tournament with a 16-11 win-loss record, although he did in in Estoril.

Swedish qualifier Ymer has only once advanced past the first round at Roland Garros, although the world number 155 did come through the prelims without dropping a set.

The pair met once before, in the Phoenix Challenger back in 2019, where Ruud won in three sets. Can Ymer even the score this time around? Probably not, but he could give the Norwegian a scare.

Suggested bets

Ymer to win the first set
Ruud to dominate the opener
Ruud made to work for the victory in five sets
Set Score prediction: Ruud to win in four sets

Thiago Seyboth Wild vs Daniil Medvedev - Tuesday 30 May, 12pm

World number two Medvedev comes into the event as one of the favourites and with some terrific form, winning 39 out of 44 matches so far in 2023. He also has two Masters series titles to his name this year.

Seyboth Wild has spent most of his career to date on the Challenger circuit and is yet to win a match in the main draw of one of the majors.

With two titles so far in 2023, both on clay, and having only lost thrice all year, the Brazilian has some potency to his game, but can he really trouble the second seed? We think not.

Suggested bets

Seyboth Wild to win one game in opener
Medvedev to win first set 6-4
Medvedev needing a tie-breaker to win opener
Set Score prediction: Medvedev to win in straight sets

Richard Gasquet vs Arthur Rinderknech Tuesday 30 May, 14.30pm

Tuesday's first round marks a bit of history as these two French players haven't met on court before. After a decade being in and around the top 10, Gasquet is very much in the swansong of his career and is ranked 52nd coming into the tournament.

Nine years his junior, Rinderknech is ranked 78th, which suggests there isn't much between the two currently.

At the best of times, Gasquet's game hasn't entirely suited the red clay, although he did make the quarter-finals once, while Rinderknech is yet to make it past the first round on his previous three attempts.

A difficult one to call, though Gasquet's experience should shine through, although the longer this match goes, the more it will suit Rinderknech.

Suggested bets

Gasquet to win the opener 6-2

Gasquet to win the first set by any score

Rinderknech to win first set 6-4

Set Score prediction: Gasquet to win in four sets
