Day five guide - Selected men's matches

(All times subject to change)

Borna Coric (15) vs Pedro Cachin

Thursday, 1 June, Time: 10:00

A top-10 player when he at his best, Coric will need to play well on Court 6 against Argentina's Cachin, who beat two-time finalst in Paris, Dominic Thiem, in a thrilling first round match. Coric, meanwhile beat another Argentine player, Federico Coria, in four sets in his first round game.

Coric has had a bit of a Jekyll & Hyde season so far - he's played well at times but a 2023 record of 15-10 shows why he hasn't reached a semi-final in 10 tournaments this year.

He'll certainly need to be a good version of himself to reach the third round again, something he's done four times in previous years.

The 64th-ranked Cachin, too, has had an inconsistent season, with a Round of 16 berth in Madrid arguably his best result. He is 16-12 on clay, while Coris is 8-4 on the same surface in 2023.

The smart money is on the Croatian here, but it's always risky to back such a volatile player and anything can happen in this one.

Suggested bets

Cachin to win a set against Coric
Coric to win first set 6-3
Coric to win the second set

Set score prediction: Coric to win five sets

Giulio Zeppieri vs Casper Ruud (4)

Thursday 1 June, Time: 10:45

Regarded by many as an outside favourite for the title, Ruud will be the big favourie when he squares off with Zeppieri on Philippe Chatrier.

The Norwegian showed his power and finesse in his straight sets win over Elias Ymer, while 129th-ranked Italian had to come from a set down to beat Alexander Bublik in five.
Zeppieri is an improving player in his second French Open second round, and not dissimilar to Ruud stylistically, although most of his experience comes from successful runs on the Challenger Tour. His best result was winning the Cherbourg Challenger title.
Ruud is 12-5 on clay so far this year, perhaps not quite winning form, but last year's runner-up's experience in big matches should ensure there are no upsets here.

Suggested bets

Ruud to win first set 6-2
Ruud to win second set tie-break
Match to take under 31.5 games

Set score prediction: Ruud to win in straight sets

Daniel Altmaier vs Jannik Sinner (8)

Thursday, 1 June, time: 11:15

The ninth-ranked Sinner will know all about his second-round opponent - the Italian met Altmaierin the first round of the US Open last year, where he had to come from a set down to eventually win in five.
A quarter-finalist here in 2020, Sinner started his tournament with a routine win over Alexandre Muller, while world number 79 Altmaier also only needed three sets in his first round match against Marc-Andrea Huesler.
Sinner is currently 11-3 at Roland Garros while Altmaier is 4-2, although it's fair to say the former is far more comfortable on courts like Suzanne Lenglen than his opponent, who get blasted off the court if he starts poorly.

Suggested bets

No tie-breaks in Sinner vs Altmaier
Altmaier to win one set vs Sinner
Sinner to win first set 6-3

Set score prediction: Sinner to win in straight sets
