Get your tissue box ready because an emotional Roger Federer documentary is coming

A documentary covering the emotional 12 final days of Roger Federer's storied career is set to be released on Amazon Prime on 20 June.

Helmed by Academy Award-winning director Asif Kapadia and director Joe Sabia, Federer: Twelve Final Days is an intimate follow-along through the final 12 days of the 20-time grand slam winner's illustrious career.

Originally a home video never intended for public viewing, the film captures Federer at his most vulnerable and candid self, as he says goodbye to a game and the fans that shaped his life for the last two decades.

Featuring interviews from legendary rivals and friends Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray, the documentary provides unprecedented access to the relationship between these unparalleled stars.

The film is produced by Asif Kapadia and George Chignell, and directed by Kapadia and Joe Sabia.

When the documentary was commissioned, Federer said that the outcome had surprised him, with the footage not originally intended for public consumption.

"During my career, I tended to shy away from having cameras around me and my family, especially during important moments," he said.

"But I didn't see the harm in shooting this as it was never intended for the public. However, we captured so many powerful moments, and it transformed into a deeply personal journey."

A trailer includes Djokovic saying that "Roger's legacy will be forever."
