Wolves vs Brentford tips and predictions: Free-scoring Wolves too hot to handle for Bees

Wolverhampton welcome Brentford to Molineux for a Premier League clash on Saturday and we expect Gary O’Neil’s side to come out on top.

Wolves are enjoying a positive season under O’Neil and could yet even reach Europe if any of those top five places cascade down.

They’re unbeaten in eight of 10 at Molineux and their 37-goal haul is already greater than the 31 goals they managed in 38 games last season.

The absence of star striker Hee-Chan Hwang has done little to detail Wolves as Matheus Cunha, Pedro Neto and Pablo Sarabia have more than played their role.

The former bagged a hat trick in a 4-2 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last time out to take his tally for the season to nine goals.

Brentford have looked more of a goal threat since Ivan Toney’s return but that hasn’t prevented them from losing two of three and conceding eight goals.

Thomas Frank’s side have lost nine of 11 and each of their previous five Premier League away matches.

The constant disruption caused by a lack of a natural forward, the African Cup of Nations and a never-ending list of injuries has taken its toll.

The Bees lost Bryan Mbeumo in the build-up to Toney’s return and they’re still without their best options in the fullback area.

Wolves’ 3-2 FA Cup win over Brentford in a fourth-round replay extended their unbeaten run against the Bees to six games and 10 of 11.

Wolves 22 goal outburst across their previous nine looks like too much for a leaky Brentford side to manage. They’ve allowed 19 in seven.

Team news

Wolves are nearly back to a full complement of players but Hee-Chan Hwang is at the AFC Asian Cup and Boubacar Traore is at the African Cup of Nations.

Brentford recently welcomed back Ivan Toney but lost a key member of the supporting cast Bryan Mbeumo.

He’s joined in the treatment room by Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva and Kevin Schade.

Yoane Wissa and Frank Onyeka are unavailable due to their involvement in the African Cup of Nations.
