The Crew are currently flying. They're unbeaten in seven, have won five consecutive matches at home and should have beaten Inter Miami.
They conceded a late equaliser in a game that dominated, scoring twice and limiting the hosts to 0.7 expected goals.
We aren't anticipating they'll have any problems getting back on track against New York City, as the visitors aren't functioning well enough to deal with this type of opponent.
Columbus has flipped a switch and gone all out attack, playing Cucho Hernandez, Christian Ramirez and Lucas Zelarayan, plus two wing-backs and Darlington Nagbe in midfield.
They've scored at least twice in their last six at home and nine overall, totalling 29 goals in 11 home matches.
We felt City might get back on track against Charlotte and they did dominate the game, limiting them to no real chances of note and creating enough to win.
Creating a large enough volume of high-quality chances, particularly against a team like Columbus, has been an ongoing challenge and seems unlikely here.
Finishing is less of a problem than it seems as they've scored six goals in their last five games in which they've produced an xG of 5.7.
But for all the talented attackers they have, they're starting to look like a collection of individuals who do the same thing.
This game will likely be a competitive battle for possession but Columbus is built to hurt teams with or without the ball and it wouldn't be a surprise to see them score two or three.
