MLS betting tips: Vancouver Whitecaps are an underdog worth backing this weekend

Sporting KC has lost back-to-back home matches and will look to steady the ship against in-form Vancouver Whitecaps.

Sporting KC have lost their previous two home matches and will host a Vancouver side who just beat LAFC on their travels.

Sporting KC vs Vancouver Whitecaps verdict

We've covered Sporting KC a few times this season and in recent weeks we've spoken about their goalscoring exploits. They've been a clinical team.
Their tally of 13 goals in four matches was wild, to say the least, because they've produced an xG of 11 through 10 home matches this season.
Previously, we avoided betting against such a red-hot team. However, numbers always level out and the regression is now on show.
Vancouver's win in LA was their first away win of the season and their first since FC Dallas just over one year ago. However, they've picked up points against Austin, Minnesota and LA Galaxy.
Prior to that win, they beat Sporting KC 1-0 on their travels. That result stands out because they'd lost seven straight previously and it extend the away side's solid record in the fixture.
The away team is unbeaten in nine of the last 15 meetings and it took a late goal from Vancouver to stop Sporting winning in Canada earlier this season.
It's worth acknowledging that this will be a tough game for Vancouver and they'll need a lot to go their way on the day, including Sporting's sloppy defensive play continuing.
However, this is a good value bet, with the Whitecaps priced at 11/5 at the time of writing and odds based on xG suggesting they should be favourites to win at around 7/5.
Back the visitors and cross your fingers this is one of those occasions where those numbers bear fruit.
