Liverpool vs West Ham tips and predictions: Irons can extend Reds’ poor Carabao Cup run

Jarrod Bowed and Mohammed Kudus
Liverpool will host West Ham at Anfield for a Carabao Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday evening
There’s no doubt that Liverpool weren’t at their best against Man Utd but they still created enough chances to win the game and we’re left rueing poor finishing.
On one hand, you have to expect a fierce response from Jurgen Klopp and his team. They average three goals per game at home and could rebound here.
However, their record in the Carabao Cup is less than impressive, and West Ham have already claimed the scalp of league leaders Arsenal in this competition.
Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen put the Gunners to the sword at the London Stadium in November and they’ve continued their fine form since.
The duo scored in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Wolves, bringing Bowen’s season total to 11 goals and Ghana’s main man, who will soon depart for the Africa Cup of Nations, to six.
David Moyes’ side are in good health, and with some added depth in midfield, they have adapted well to competing on all fronts.
Although Liverpool’s efforts at rotation in cup competitions have caused them some difficulties, their Carabao Cup record provides the visitors with the most hope.
Liverpool have failed to win 13 of 18 home ties dating back to 2013. They were held by Notts County, Carlisle and Derby, just to name an illustrious few.
The debacle at Craven Cottage aside, West Ham have scored in all away games across all competitions and 10 of 11 overall.
The Hammers have nothing to fear and we think that like so many before them, they’ll be able to force extra time at Anfield.
Team news
Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, Stefan Bajcetic and Alexis Mac Allister are ruled out.
Ryan Gravenberch is the latest injury concern and even if he’s well, it’s unlikely he’ll be risked.
Michail Antonio is the only expected absentee for West Ham.
