Euro 2024 and Copa America acca: Germany vs Switzerland, Uruguay vs Panama, USA vs Bolivia and more

Wall-to-wall football has arrived with Euro 2024 and Copa America overlapping from this weekend, so we’ve marked the occasion with our latest acca attempt.

This weekend’s effort is spread across games taking place across the weekend and concludes with Euro hosts Germany, Uruguay and the United States on Sunday night.

Turkey vs Portugal (1700 BST, Sat)

Turkey’s 3-1 win against Georgia was thoroughly entertaining. It was an end-to-end affair, packed with goalmouth action and graced by two stunning strikes.

Even though they produced plenty of chances, they also looked susceptible against minnows Georgia. Portugal has a similar issue as they can’t help but concede goals recently.

Both teams will feel free to attack given the group standings and neither has a good defensive record. Portugal have shipped nine in six, while Turkey have conceded 13 in seven.

 

Belgium vs Romania (2000 BST, Sat)

A defeat for Belgium in their second group game guarantees they can do no better than finish third and even then, it’s unlikely they’d be a third-place qualifier.

Nothing other than a win will do against Romania, which sets up the extremely fun scenario of all four sides sitting on four points ahead of matchday three.

Romania showed their quality against Ukraine but we’ve already seen examples of teams responding to a disappointing first outing and we expect Belgium to do exactly that.

 

Germany vs Switzerland (2000 BST, Sun)

Germany and Switzerland will battle it out for top spot in Group A in Frankfurt on Sunday evening. Both teams have scored in each of their games so far and we expect them to do so again.

These teams have produced some memorable games in the past decade and given the fact they are guaranteed to progress, we may see the shackles loosened.

Even though Germany’s 2-0 win over Hungary was comfortable on paper, they looked very likely to be countered and conceded for much of that match.

 

United States vs Bolivia (2300 BST, Sun)

We aren’t expecting the US to live up to their billing just because they’re the host nation of Copa America 2024, but we are expecting them to deal with Bolivia.

Bolivia are likely to finish bottom of Group D and if the US want to contest the top spot with Uruguay, they’ll need to make the most of the goal difference in their other matches.

 

Uruguay vs Panama (0200 BST, Mon)

Panama are going to be out of their depth against Uruguay. Marcelo Bielsa’s side have looked extremely organised in recent matches as we’ve seen his style take hold.

Panama isn’t the force they used to be in CONCACAF, let alone going up against a South American side that could actually win the Copa. There’s only one winner here.
