EFL football acca tips: Bolton and Stockport to maintain promotion challenge, and more…

After the FA Cup and international breaks, we have a full EFL programme of football to look forward to over the coming weekend.

Tipstrr football pundit Russell Tovey, who runs his AGF service on Tipstrr, has picked out his best value bets for us, to be followed singly and/or combined into a four-fold acca.

He landed four winning selections from five a couple of weeks ago, giving us a very healthy ROI of 57.6% on the single bets .

Weekend acca summary:

Bolton vs Exeter   Bolton -1 AH (4/6)

Peterborough vs Burton Peterborough -1 AH (4/5)

Wycombe vs Reading   Wycombe win (4/5)

Newport vs Stockport   Stockport win (8/13)

A clean sweep of results here pays just under 8/1 as an acca, so let’s take a closer look:

Bolton Wanderers vs Exeter City

Bolton will be looking to continue their charge towards the automatic promotion places when they host Exeter City on Saturday.

They’re in fantastic form, winning seven successive games in all competitions and not conceding in the last five.

Unlike Bolton, Exeter’s recent form has been awful. Before Tuesday's win over League Two Swindon Town in the EFL Trophy (a game which had nothing riding on it as both teams were already eliminated), Exeter had drawn one and lost nine of their last ten matches.

Despite a decent start to the season, Exeter’s form has seen them drop down the table, leaving them one point above the relegation zone.

With this match-up being between a side sitting near the top of both the league and form tables, against a side near the bottom of both tables, it’s hard to see anything other than a comfortable home win.

Bolton are short odds to win this one at 4/9, so I’m going for them on a -1.0 Asian Handicap at 8/11 (money back if they only win by one goal)..

Peterborough Utd vs Burton Albion

Peterborough will also be looking to continue their promotion push when they take on Burton this weekend.

They’re currently in 5th place and are the joint highest scorers in the league, as well as having created the highest xG in the division.

Their home form has been solid so far, winning five, drawing two and losing just the one.

Other than their first home win of the season, their wins at the Weston Homes Stadium have been very comfortable, each by at least a two-goal margin.

We’re backing Posh to carry on that streak against a Burton side who have had a very mixed season so far.

Burton went on an eight-match unbeaten run in all competitions earlier this season but were winless in eight before that streak and were winless in six after it, until they won 2-1 against League Two Mansfield on Tuesday.

It's difficult to know which Burton will turn up on Saturday. They are however going into this match with something of an injury crisis at the back.

With only one fit centre-back available, we’re backing Peterborough to win this one. The home side on a -1.0 Asian Handicap is the selection at odds of 4/5.

Wycombe Wanderers vs Reading

It’s been a common theme of these articles, backing Reading to lose when playing away from home and it’s not going to stop this week.

They’re currently on a 21-game run without a league win away from home, picking up just two points.

They’ve lost all eight of their away fixtures in League One this season before travelling to Adams Park on Saturday to take on Wycombe Wanderers.

Wycombe have had a fairly average season so far, sitting 12th in the table. Their home form has been nothing special, picking up 11 points from 8 matches.

They also haven’t won in five league games, but have had some tough fixtures in that run, picking up draws away at Peterborough and Oxford.

Nothing about Wycombe Wanderers really stands out as making them a great selection other than the team they’re facing.

With how bad Reading’s away form has been, we’d probably back any side in the division to beat them and Wycombe are a decent team, so them being priced up at 4/5 to win this one looks like good value.

Newport County vs Stockport County

Stockport are another side who we’ve managed to get some good value from this season, particularly away from home.

They’ve won twelve matches in a row in the league and travel to South Wales on Saturday to take on Newport County.

Newport are having a pretty tough season so far, which was expected after their squad was picked apart over the summer.

They sit in 20th place and have won just two of their last thirteen league games.

This is a match-up between a side who is struggling for wins and was expected to be relegation candidates, against a side in amazing form and who were expected to challenge for promotion.

With this in mind, it’s hard to see past a Stockport win.
