Denmark vs Northern Ireland tips: Strong home form will save Danes from another shock defeat

Denmark are there for the taking but Northern Ireland may not have the right tools to pull off a big win in Copenhagen.

For a relatively small nation, Denmark have always overachieved on the international stage. However, with the team struggling for results in recent games, Northern Ireland have a rare opportunity to knock off a European heavyweight.

Denmark have won just one of their last five matches.
Northern Ireland have won just one of their last four away games.

Verdict

Denmark are in the midst of a rare slump when it comes to their recent results on the international stage.
The Danes have won just one of their last five games - a 3-1 victory over Finland in their Euro 2024 qualifying opener.
However, Kasper Hjulmand's men failed to land back-to-back wins as they were stunned 3-2 by Kazakhstan away in Astana in their last competitive outing.
The big question ahead of Friday is whether Northern Ireland are capable of capitalising on Denmark's slide.
Since returning to the managerial hotseat at Windsor Park, Michael O'Neill masterminded a 2-0 win over San Marino before falling to a 1-0 defeat at home against Finland.
Friday's match in Copenhagen will be the 53-year-old's biggest test since returning to the job. O'Neill won 26 of 72 games as boss of the Green and White Army during his nine-year spell between 2011 and 2020.
Northern Ireland have picked up some decent results in recent months, however they lack consistency.
Over the last six games, O'Neill's men have suffered three defeats, won two games and also drew 2-2 with Cyprus.
Despite this, their away form will be a concern for Northern Ireland. The side have won just two of their last seven games on the road.
Denmark - for all their recent troubles - boast a sterling home record with eight wins in nine games.

With that in mind, we’re backing the hosts to overcome their recent troubles and edge Northern Ireland by a single goal.
