Coventry vs Hull tips and predictions: Visitors to prevail as goals fly in

Coventry return to Championship action on Wednesday night when they square off against fellow play-off chasers Hull City (1945 BST).

Coventry can expect a hero's welcome when they step out onto the pitch on Wednesday evening, but we can’t help but think they may feeling a bit flat.

It’s a huge occasion to manage if you aren’t used to competing in such a spectacle, while knowing the footballing world thinks you were robbed can’t help a player’s mindset.

Mark Robins’ side and visitors Hull City are in with a drunk puncher’s chance of scraping the play-offs, with both needing to win their remaining games.

A perfect back-nine to end their season will give the Tigers a chance, although Norwich need only one win from two to shatter their dreams due to the Canaries' superior goal difference.

The scenario is different for last year's beaten play-off finalists, who must win all four of their remaining games and pray the Canaries lose one, which would see them sneak in on goal difference.

The reality is neither side will make the cut but there’s no harm in going all out, which should make for an open and entertaining game.

There have been over 2.5 goals in Coventry’s last 12 matches, while both teams have scored in Hull’s last nine meetings with top-half sides.

City’s only loss in eight was a 3-1 defeat at Elland Road with Leeds scoring twice in the final two minutes to rob them of a valuable point.

The table dictates the shackles must come off and when they do, this game becomes something of a toss-up.

Liam Rosenior’s high press can unsettle their hosts and they’ll cause plenty of problems on the break late on in the game if they can grab a lead.

There’s little to separate the sides so despite Coventry’s strong home record, we’ll grab the bigger price, which belongs to the visitors, and bet on goals.
