Arsenal vs Luton tips and predictions: Gunners to tear short-handed Hatters to shreds

Arsenal can enjoy a day on top of the Premier League table with a win over Luton Town at the Emirates Stadium (1930 BST).

Arsenal will be confident of making it nine wins from 10 in 2024 when they play host to strugglers Luton on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners held Man City to a 0-0 draw in a less-than-inspiring contest last weekend, but the point allowed them to remain above the Citizens in the table.

The Hatters threatened an unlikely win at the Tottenham Hotspur but Son Heung-Min’s 86th-minute goal added a more just look to the scoreline.

Rob Edward’s side have already defied the odds this season but relegation is looking more likely as Town’s defence has started to struggle.

You can’t expect to pick up many points when conceding three goals per game and that’s not the sort of fragility you want to display against a ruthless Arsenal side.

Mikel Arteta’s side scored 33 times in eight games before Sunday’s stalemate and found their way past Thomas Kaminski four times in the reverse fixture.

Kai Havertz found the net in that game and the German has four in his last five appearances so he’s worth backing to score.

They also conceded three in that game but the visitors mounting injury crisis means top-scorer Elijah Adebayo and a host of others will be absent on Wednesday.

Another absentee is Chiedozie Ogbene and that’s damaging for the Hatters as his pace on the break may have been their best route to goal.

Arsenal have conceded in 10 of 14 Premier League home games but this looks like a perfect opportunity to add to their tally of clean sheets.

Team news

Jurrien Timber is the only confirmed absentee for Arsenal.

Gabriel Martinelli could return to the starting lineup with Gabriel Jesus dropping to the bench.

Tom Lockyer, Brad Potts, Amari’i Bell, Mads Andersen, Gabriel Osho, Jacob Brown, Marvellous Nakamba, Sambi Lokonga, Ogbene and Adebayo are ruled out.

Tahith Chong, Alfie Doughty and Reece Burke may also miss out.
