Arsenal vs Sheffield United tips and predictions: Gunners to continue 52-year run over blunt Blades

Since the last time Sheffield United won away at Arsenal, Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage has managed to be born, become a footballer, go on Strictly and back the Blades to lose again.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 36 home games against promoted sides. Make that 37.

On the back of a great win in Europe, in Seville, I think they’ll win and win to nil. I’m going Arsenal three, Sheffield United nil.

Robbie’s Tip: Arsenal 3-0 Sheffield United

Team news

Arsenal will be short of two names for the weekend as Gabriel Jesus and Jurrien Timber both miss out with injuries.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, could form a half-decent five-a-side team with the amount of players on the sidelines.

Chris Basham, Tom Davies, John Egan, Daniel Jebbison, Max Lowe and Rhys Norrington-Davies are all injured. There are also question marks over George Baldock and Will Osula.

Key stats

- Arsenal are unbeaten in 18 home meetings with Sheffield United across all competitions

- Sheffield United’s last away win over Arsenal was in August 1971

- Arsenal are unbeaten in 36 Premier League home games against promoted sides

Planet Sport’s other bets to consider

Francis Ngannou isn’t the biggest underdog in the sporting world this weekend. That accolade falls to Sheffield United who have been priced as big as 22/1 for their Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Those odds shouldn’t come as much of a shock. This is a mis-match in whichever way you look at it.

Let’s start with the Gunners. Following their surprise loss to Lens in the Champions League, Mikel Arteta’s men bounced back with wins over Man City and Sevilla, plus a comeback draw against Chelsea at the Bridge. Not bad.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, are on a five-match losing run. In fact, the Blades have lost nine of their 10 games this season across all competitions. Their only saving grace was a 2-2 draw with Everton back in early September.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side are bottom of the table and have conceded 15 goals across their last four outings. Which, to be fair, is not exactly a fair stat considering eight of those goals came in one miserable game against Newcastle.

Other stats don’t offer much hope either. United haven’t won an away game against Arsenal in 52 years. We don’t expect that to change.

Our betting recommendation is to back Arsenal in the handicap market. The Gunners to keep a clean sheet is also an enticing option.
