West Ham made a real statement of intent in the opening round of the season following their 4-2 comeback win over Newcastle.

The Hammers came back from 2-1 down, scored three second-half goals and sealed a comprehensive victory at St James' Park.

This Monday night, West Ham will play in front of their own fans for the first time this season - and the challenge couldn't be any tougher.

Leicester City also managed a win on the opening weekend as Jamie Vardy's first-half effort proved enough to seal a 1-0 victory over Wolves.

Brendan Rodgers has enjoyed a busy transfer window with a number of promising signings making their way through the door.

We're still very early into the season but their first two competitive games - including the Community Shield win over Manchester City - will certainly give the supporters many reasons to be optimistic.

With regards to their upcoming clash with West Ham, Leicester have a decent away record against the Hammers having won three of the last six meetings in the capital.

The bet to back though, is over 2.5 goals. This has landed in all five previous encounters.

Last three matches

West Ham 3-2 Leicester City (Premier League - April 11, 2021)
In their last head-to-head meeting, it was the Hammers who walked away victorious.

Jesse Lingard bagged two first-half goals to give the hosts a comfortable lead at the break. Jarrod Bowen then added a third straight after the restart as West Ham looked on course for the win.

However, there was late drama as Leicester mounted a late comeback. Kelechi Iheanacho bagged in the 70th minute before scoring again in the 91st.

Despite their efforts, the Foxes ran out of time and had to settle for the 3-2 defeat.
Leicester City 0-3 West Ham (Premier League - October 4, 2020)
There was no late comeback from the Foxes on this occasion as the visitors romped to a 3-0 win.
Michail Antonio opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Pablo Fornals added a second in the 34th.

Jarrod Bowen sealed all three points in the second half with a third goal for West Ham.

Leicester City 4-1 West Ham (Premier League - January 22, 2020)

Fans were treated to another goal-fest but on this occasion, it was Leicester who did most of the scoring.

Harvey Barnes scored the opener and Ricardo Pereira made it 2-0 just before the break.

Mark Noble's well converted penalty brough the Hammers back into the contest but only temporarily.
In the final ten minutes, Ayoze Perez bagged a brace as Leicester completed a comprehensive win at the King Power Stadium.

Last ten head-to-heads

West Ham wins: 3
Draws: 3
Leicester City wins: 4
West Ham goals: 16
Leicester goals: 16

Leicester can avenge season double

This fixture certainly didn't help Leicester's top-four chances last season. The Foxes lost both of their games against the Hammers, conceding six goals in the process.

Brendan Rodgers and his men will be seeking a bit of revenge this Monday night when they take on a West Ham outfit which has defensive vulnerabilities.

For all of their attacking bravado, the Hammers looked a little flat-footed at the back against Newcastle last weekend and went on to concede twice.

Leicester, just like the Magpies, are capable of getting out of the blocks quickly. But unlike their northern counterparts, the Foxes aren't likely to surrender their lead as easily.

With that in mind, early goals could play a major role. From a betting perspective, Leicester to score first is attractively priced.

Both teams to score popular in the market

For many years, this has been a goal-friendly fixture. Over the last ten games for example, a total of 32 goals have been scored.
What's more, the both teams to score bet has landed in seven of the last nine encounters.
Considering these stats, it's not surprise that this bet has been priced as short as 4/6 by the bookmakers.

Another similar market which is worth keeping an eye though, is the 1/1 shot on both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.

Goalscorer bets

After equalling Paulo Di Canio's record, Michail Antonio will now look to break it as he edges closer to becoming West Ham's greatest Premier League goalscorer.

At 9/5, the Hammers forward offers the shortest price in the anytime goalscorer market.

From Leicester's perspective, there are two men who lead the way in the betting.

Jamie Vardy, who scored last weekend against Wolves, is currently well priced at 19/10.

Kelechi Iheanacho is also offered at the same price. The Nigerian forward has scored three goals in his last four games against West Ham.
