Betting preview: Fulham vs Bournemouth – Mitrovic payback in goal-mad encounter

The biggest game of the Championship season takes place at a sold-out Craven Cottage where Fulham welcome a Bournemouth side led by their former manager, Scott Parker.

It's no surprise that tickets for this Friday's clash have sold like hot cakes. When you have two of the best teams in the Championship going head-to-head, a tasty encounter is most certainly on the cards.

One of the major talking points will obviously be Parker's return to Craven Cottage. Will the 41-year-old get one over his previous employers or will the Cottagers strengthen their position at the top of the table?

Best bets for Fulham vs Bournemouth

Over 3.5 goals - WAS 21/10, NOW 9/4

Fulham to score first - 4/6

Aleksandar Mitrovic to score a brace - 7/2

If you're looking to place a bet in this game, forget about the outright market and simply focus on goals.

Fulham have scored an extraordinary 49 goals this season - that's 13 more than the next best team.

Interestingly, that next best team are Bournemouth who have themselves found the back of net 36 times.

Dominic Solanke, Bournemouth, Championship

If that wasn't enough, this is a fixture which will see two of the top three goalscorers in the league go head to head. Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic leads the golden boot race with 21 efforts to his name, while Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke isn't far off on 15.

Both these teams have dropped points in recent weeks and they will be determined to return to winning ways as the promotion hunt heats up. Apart from going top of the table, the winner of Friday's game will also send a message of intent to the rest of the division.

Considering what's on the line and the incredible goalscoring nature of both teams, our opening selection is to back the over 3.5 goals bet.

This selection landed when the two teams last met in the Championship. On that occasion, it was Bournemouth who took the points with a 5-1 success at Craven Cottage.

Last 10 head-to-heads

Fulham wins: 2

Draws: 2

Bournemouth wins: 6

Fulham goals: 7

Bournemouth goals: 17

Fulham on the front foot

Fulham manager Marco Silva (left), Aleksandar Mitrovic and Tim Ream (right) celebrate after the final whistle during the Sky Bet Championship match at Craven Cottage, London.

Marco Silva's men have been on a terrific run over the last 12 games. During that time, Fulham have picked up eight wins and suffered one defeat.

Another interesting stat during this run is that Fulham have opened the scoring in 11 of those matches.

Considering their propensity to open the scoring in league games, our third selection is to back the hosts to score first against Bournemouth.

As things stand, this bet is priced around the 4/6 mark.

Goalscorer bets for Fulham vs Bournemouth

Fulham manager Scott Parker instructs Aleksandar Mitrovic during the Premier League match at Anfield, Liverpool.

One of the most engaging narratives ahead of this game is the clash between Fulham's star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and Bournemouth boss Scott Parker.

When the 41-year-old was in charge of Fulham, Mitrovic was reduced to a bit-part player, making only 13 Premier League appearances.

The Serbian forward was expected to leave the club but with Parker beating him to it, he decided to stay. That decision has paid off big time with Mitrovic currently boasting the highest goalscoring tally in the league.

According to our sister site TEAMtalk, the 27-year-old is being linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe. However, before he can think about a dream move to Bayern Munich or Juventus, Mitrovic will be intent on showing up his former boss.

With the player in top form, it's no surprise to see him priced as short as 4/5 in the anytime goalscorer market. Our recommendation is to back the Serb to score a brace at a far more appetising price of 7/2.

Dominic Solanke Bournemouth Nov21

Another man to watch is Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke.

The 24-year-old has scored in six of his last eight league outings and is without doubt the main attacking threat for the Cherries.

The player is available in the anytime goalscorer market at 7/4 - a decent price for a forward in red-hot form.
