Sunday treble: Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and PSG to end the weekend on a high

There are some serious heavyweight battles taking place across the continent on Sunday. Planet Sport have picked out three of them to form a 5/1 European treble.

There's a storm brewing in Milan as Inter prepare for the visit of Juventus. The visitors started the season in slow motion but a recent upturn in form should make for a dramatic encounter at San Siro.

Elsewhere, La Liga leaders Real Sociedad take on defending champions Atletico Madrid in a game that could steal El Classico's headlines.

If that wasn't enough for you, two of the biggest names in France go head-to-head as Marseille welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade Velodrome.

Without further to do, let's get straight into our three selections.

Inter Milan vs Juventus (Serie A)

Looking at the form book, you may be inclined to back Juventus in their gargantuan Serie A encounter against Inter Milan.

The Old Lady have won six straight games and haven't conceded a goal in over 367 minutes of soccer.

That is some turnaround considering Massimiliano Allegri's side only picked up two points from their opening four league outings.

Inter are currently three points above Juventus in the table having won five of their eight Serie A matches.

However, it must be noted that I Nerazzurri are not currently firing on all cylinders having won just two of their last five outings across all competitions.

Despite this, Inter's solid home run cannot go unnoticed. Simone Inzaghi's side have only lost one of their last 14 games at San Siro.

What's more, with the home side presenting a decent price in the market, it's hard to go against them.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Sociedad (La Liga)

All eyes this Sunday will be at the Camp Nou as Barcelona take on Real Madrid in El Classico. However, the match which could steal the show this weekend will be 370 miles away at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

Real Sociedad have sensationally climbed to the top of the La Liga standings and they will be desperate to stay there when they face Atletico away from home.

That, however, is a lot easier said than done.

Atletico may be outside of the top four but Diego Simeone's side can never be underestimated.

With the league seemingly wide open, Atletico will see this as a perfect opportunity to win back-to-back league crowns - something they last achieved in 1950 and 1951. A win over the current league leaders would certainly propel Simeone's men in the right direction.

Atletico will also take a lot of encouragement from their impervious home run against Sociedad. The Madrid outfit have won this fixture seven of their last eight times on home turf. What's more, they haven't faced defeat since 2013.

If that wasn't enough, the visitors come into this game with a lengthy injury list.

Bearing everything in mind, a home win is the way to go in this one.

Marseille vs PSG (Ligue 1)

While the title race in France is not expected to go down to the wire, Le Classique remains a keystone fixture in the Ligue 1 calendar.

Two of Marseille's games this season have been halted due to off-field issues. With the rich Parisians making their way down, you can be assured that the home fans will make their presence felt.

Nevertheless, it's hard to see anything other than a PSG victory in this one.

Jorge Sampaoli's men have won just one of their last six games. PSG, on the other hand, have won 11 of their last 13 outings in all competitions.

Le Classique has been somewhat one sided in recent years with the Parisians winning seven of the last eight meetings.

Considering Mauricio Pochettino has a near fully fit squad to choose from, that's not expected to change this weekend.
