West Brom boss Carlos Corberan early favourite to take vacant Leeds manager's post

West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan is the early favourite to take the reins at Leeds after Jesse Marsch was sacked on Monday.

Former RB Leipzig boss Marsch leaves with the club sitting in 17th place in the table, above the relegation zone only on goal difference.
He won 11 of the 37 games for which he was in charge and eight of 32 in the league and found himself a target for angry fans following the defeat at the City Ground.

Corberan is a former Leeds coach who only took over at the Baggies in October 2022, but has already dragged them away from a relegation dogfight and into the Championship play-off picture.

Corberan also guided Huddersfield Town to the play-offs, and is known for making his sides hard to beat. Bookies already have him as 5/4 favourite to take the Elland Road hotseat.

Former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa is next in the market at 5/1, and is likely to be the majority of the fans choice for the job.
Bielsa left Leeds in February last year after four consecutive losses and the club in 16th place in the Premier League, so this might appear to jumping from one frying pan into another.
The 67-year-old was approached by Everton for their vacant role last week, but couldn't agree a deal so is clearly on the look out for another role.
Another man familiar with a Premier League relegation fight is former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, who is joint third favourite with the 'permanently looking for a new project' Mauricio Pochettino at 6/1.
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is next at 15/2, but why he would swap a second consecutive Scottish Premiership title challenge for a relegation battle is anyone's guess.

Expect several clubs to move for Postecoglou when he's collected more silverware in Scotland, but February is probably too early for him.

Former Everton and Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez lurks ominiously at 10/1, which will keep West Ham fans happy if he goes to Elland Road instead of a possible move to East London.
Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has hardly got his feet wet in the Championship after taking the manager's role in October 2023, but he has done a brilliant job.

Is he ambitious or crazy enough to trade in a Championship promotion push for a relegation fight, at 12/1 it seems unlikely.
