  • Wales Skipper Aaron Ramsey Departs OGC Nice As Cardiff City Return Edges Closer

Wales skipper Aaron Ramsey departs OGC Nice as Cardiff City return edges closer

Aaron Ramsey is set for a sensational return to Cardiff City.

Ligue 1 club OGC Nice have confirmed the departure of Aaron Ramsey, opening the door for his potential return to Cardiff City.

The former Arsenal midfielder completed a medical with the Championship outfit on Thursday and is now set to join on a free transfer.
While Ramsey had offers from other clubs, the 32-year-old appears intent on a return to his boyhood club.
The Wales captain made his senior career breakthrough at Cardiff in 2007 before moving to Arsenal a year later.
The midfielder finished his spell at the Emirates in 2019 before moving to Juventus.

Ramsey won a Serie A title and two domestic cups before moving to Rangers on loan.

Last season, the Welsh international made 34 appearances across all competitions for Nice, scoring one goal in the process.
Ramsey's potential return to Cardiff would represent a big boost for new manager Erol Bulut.
The player told BBC Wales last month: "For sure one day I would love to go back there [Cardiff City].
"It's where I grew up and them giving me that opportunity and platform to go on to what I have achieved so far in my career, I will forever be grateful.
"The most important thing for me is to enjoy my time off now with my family and to make the right decision going forward for us."
