In a captivating La Liga encounter, Villarreal withstood a spirited Granada fightback to secure a 3-2 victory, propelling them to the 12th position in the league table.

All the goals in this high-octane showdown were netted within the first 34 minutes.

Villarreal's Gerard Moreno showcased his class, breaking the deadlock with a deft finish, capitalizing on an Alexander Sorloth run to open the scoring. Moreno then seized the opportunity to double his tally for the night, converting a penalty with finesse.

Sorloth, whose performance was nothing short of outstanding, embellished the scoreline further with a magnificent third goal, putting Villarreal in a commanding position. It appeared as though the visitors were on the verge of running riot.

However, Granada, despite their struggles this season, exhibited their tenacity as they launched a valiant comeback. Ricard Sanchez and Myrto Uzuni pulled the hosts back into the contest with well-taken goals, setting the stage for a dramatic second half.

Villarreal's coach, Pacheta, expressed his delight after the thrilling Monday night victory. He commented, "We had a great Sorloth and a great Gerard. When our two forwards are in top form and find the back of the net, we tend to emerge victorious. However, there are several aspects we need to address."

Pacheta emphasized the need for improvement, especially in their ball retention and transition play, recognizing that Granada's strengths lay in their quick counter-attacks. He added, "We've been stable, but we've had too many turnovers, and we've failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities. We have to work on rectifying these issues."

Sorloth's injury scare was also a concern for Pacheta. He revealed, "Sorloth has suffered a blow to his Achilles tendon, which has become inflamed. We hope it's not a severe injury. We weren't efficient during our transition plays."

Despite the challenges, Pacheta remained positive, focusing on the team's urgent need for a victory. He concluded, "What matters most is that we needed this win, and we've achieved it."
