Valencia defender Jose Gaya extends contract with the La Liga club

Valencia captain Jose Gaya has signed a new deal which will see him remain at the club until 2028.

According to both Superdeporte and Sport, Los Che reached an agreement with the 27-year-old Spanish international defender, who has played his entire career at the club starting in the junior ranks.
The release clause in his contract is set at €100m, which will effectively see Gaya remain at the club for most of his career.
There had been recent media reports linking Gaya with a move to Barcelona, where former Valencia Sporting Director Mateu Alemany lives.
The move by the Valencia is a wise one as they have now tied down arguably their best player for the foreseeable future after losing Carlos Soler and star forward Goncalo Guedes during the summer transfer window.
In June 2022, Gennaro Gattuso became new Valencia manager and this is thought to be another reason why Gaya has stayed at the La Liga side. Gattuso is the third Italian manager at Los Che following in the footsteps of Claudio Ranieri and Cesare Prandelli.
