The Champions League was front and centre on Wednesday night, with Real Madrid and Manchester City booking their places in the semi-finals. Here's the best of the socials on the night.

SOCCER: It all kicked off as Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid on Wednesday night. Casemiro's lunge on James Milner caused a big angry reaction from the Liverpool bench. Zinedine Zidane, meanwhile...

SOCCER: Head in hands, diplomatic writing, 'gave it everything' - Gini Wijnaldum with a textbook Tweet After a Defeat (trademark pending).

SOCCER: Elsewhere, Manchester City made it through to set up a semi-final with PSG - with Phil Foden enjoying a footballing father/son moment with Pep on the touchline after his goal secured their progress to the last four.

You can't blame him though, what a strike this was:

Now that the semi-finalists are decided, you can see our look at the favourites to lift the Champions League trophy.

SOCCER: Naturally, seeing two opposing players talking at the end of the game has got people asking if they'll be playing together after the transfer window.

Never understood the mouth-covering thing by the way, but if you can lip-read from a distant camera shot then fair play to you.

SOCCER: This just in from Spurs. It'll take a lot more than a good lick of paint to gloss over this bizarre sponsorship deal.
