Sebastien Haller's determination despite Dortmund's Champions League loss

Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastien Haller shared his insights following their 2-1 loss against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League first-leg clash.

In an interview with BeinSports post-match, Haller acknowledged the disappointment of conceding early goals but remained optimistic about their chances in the return leg at Signal Iduna Park.

"We can have a few regrets because the way we started the game was not the best, and we concede two easy goals. We need to learn from these mistakes," remarked Haller, reflecting on the match.

Analysing the game's dynamics, Haller noted a shift in intensity from Atletico after half-time, though he recognized their opponents could have capitalized more on Dortmund's errors. He highlighted a missed opportunity at the end, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of football.

Haller found solace in his goal, which narrowed the deficit, underlining its significance in fuelling hope and showcasing the impact of substitutes. "It means a lot of positive things; it's an important goal for hope. It also shows that anyone coming off the bench can make a difference.

"It's just nice to be back scoring for my team," expressed the Ivorian forward.

Looking ahead to the return leg, Haller outlined Dortmund's unwavering ambition. "Like always, we will play to win. Especially now, the crowd will be with us [at home].

"We have [to score] one goal to get extra-time at least, and we will do our best to get qualification," he affirmed, displaying confidence in the team's capabilities.

Before the crucial second leg against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, April 16, Dortmund face Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday in a Bundesliga encounter. The team remains focused on both domestic and European fronts, aiming to turn the tide in their favour.
