Robert Lewandowski set for action as FC Barcelona face Las Palmas

Robert Lewandowski is set to feature in FC Barcelona's starting line-up this Saturday against Las Palmas in La Liga at the Olimpic Lluis Companys stadium.

Despite the exertion endured in Poland's two play-off matches against Estonia, whom they thrashed 5-1, along with the 180 minutes and penalty shoot-out against Wales (0-0 and 4-5 on penalties), securing their national team's spot in the upcoming summer's Euros, the Barcelona forward is in good shape.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, upon joining FC Barcelona's training sessions, Lewandowski underwent a thorough medical examination, with all indicators pointing towards his fitness to compete against UD Las Palmas.

Coach Xavi Hernandez, in the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against the Canarians, emphasized Lewandowski's pivotal role within the team. "He's feeling good, returned well from international duty... he's an essential player for our interests," commented the Barcelona coach, adding, "Robert is a leader, always working with humility, striving to improve despite his age... he's a phenomenal player. Today, I told him that the other day's performance was one of his best as a Barca player."

Not only Xavi is keen on having Lewandowski in the starting eleven to challenge Las Palmas and apply pressure on Real Madrid, but the Polish striker himself is eager to continue contributing to the team with his goals and assists. Lewandowski has already scored 20 goals this season (13 of them in La Liga, where he's just three goals behind the Pichichi leader Jude Bellingham) and aims to provide more against the island-based outfit.

Putting behind his inconsistent start to the season, Lewandowski attributed his resurgence to the heightened intensity in training sessions - coinciding with fewer midweek fixtures due to Copa del Rey elimination and alternating Champions League weeks - enabling him to reach his peak performance level. This has translated into increased involvement in the team's gameplay and more goals.
