Richarlison, Raphinha, Eriksen: Who will Tottenham sign during make-or-break transfer window

The summer transfer window is supposedly going to transform Antonio Conte’s Tottenham side from top-four chasers to trophy contenders. So, who exactly have they been linked with?

Antonio Conte is not the type of manager who is happy battling for Champions League qualification on an annual basis.

The Italian manager expressed his frustrations on a number of occasions with the club's transfer policy last season, and it appears this summer is make or break for the club if they are to keep Conte for the foreseeable future.

Tottenham's big summer of signings has got off to a steady start, with Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster joining the north London club on free transfers.

While it's a positive start, the duo certainly won't thrust the club into trophy contention. With that in mind, who are Tottenham being linked with, and how close are they to getting major deals over the line?

Here, we take a closer look at the current transfer situation at Spurs and assess their hopes of strengthening for the upcoming Premier League season.

Richarlison

In recent times, Richarlison has made more headlines for his antics rather than his football. However, that doesn't change the fact that the Brazilian is a highly-sought after striker, especially with Everton looking to make a host of changes before the new season.

One team linked with the 25-year-old are Tottenham, and it's easy to see why. Conte has proved he can turn players with potential into goalscoring machines - just look at Romelu Lukaku's spell at Inter.

Signing Richarlison would also allow Conte to beef up his attacking options, following in the footsteps of Manchester City and Liverpool who have also strengthened up front.

Gabriel Jesus

One move this summer which is simply a matter of time is Gabriel Jesus' departure from Manchester City. The only real question concerns his next destination.
Tottenham are one of the possibilities, but it appears Conte's side are dragging their feet in the race for his signature.

According to a recent report by The Times, Arsenal have already made a bid for the 25-year-old forward. What's more, the fact Jesus has already worked with Mikel Arteta - during the Spaniard's time as an assistant at City - could give the Gunners an edge.

Yves Bissouma

One deal which is on the cusp of completion concerns Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.
The 25-year-old has completed his medical and is expected to be announced imminently.
The player was in international action for Mali, but was forced to come off at half-time in a clash against South Sudan. Bissouma assured fans on social media that despite wearing a protective boot, his injury was not a serious one.

Christian Eriksen

The biggest transfer story to come out of Brentford this season involves the future destination of Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark international joined the Bees last season as he marked his return to professional football.
After a successful spell in London, a number of clubs have expressed interest in the player, including Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham.
Eriksen spent seven years at Spurs from 2013 to 2020, scoring 51 goals in 226 appearances. A return to the club is certainly not out of the question, but considering the player is in no rush to make his decision, it could be a while before his next destination is settled.

Raphinha

The battle to sign Leeds United midfielder Raphinha appears to have come down to London's three powerhouses - Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

Just a few weeks ago, a move to FC Barcelona looked nailed on. However, with the Catalan club in financial dire straits, they won't be able to get the deal over the line unless there are some serious outgoings.

The door has subsequently opened for Premier League clubs, with Tottenham one of the leading contenders for Raphinha's signature.

Pau Torres

Another name closely linked with Tottenham is Pau Torres.
The Villarreal defender, who is also being chased by Manchester United, has played a pivotal role in the club's recent successes, having made 127 appearances over the last three seasons.
Spurs are understood to be working on a deal for Torres, with Giovani Lo Celso set to go the other way.

Alessandro Bastoni

Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni was part of Antonio Conte's Serie A-winning team in 2020/21.

However, while Spurs have shown interest in the player, they're not exactly throwing the kitchen sink at the transfer.

Instead, Bastoni appears to be the club's second option should they fail to land the signature of Pau Torres.
That notion certainly gained traction following the Italian's poor display in the recent 5-2 defeat to Germany.
