Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, on playing out of position

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga opened up to the French press during his time with the national team, shedding light on his role both with Les Bleus and Los Blancos.

Known for his flair and dynamism in the heart of the midfield, Camavinga's foray into the left-back role has been a topic of discussion among fans and pundits. He addressed this transition with candour, saying, "I get asked about it every day. I'm someone who plays for the team and when I'm needed. I didn't know this position before, but it's where I've adapted, whether it's with the French national team or with Real Madrid.

"But I don't particularly like that position. I think everyone knows that, but if I have to play there, I will, even if I don't necessarily enjoy it. I'm still a midfielder."

The 20-year-old Frenchman also elaborated on his experience when filling in as a left-back for his club. Since his signing by Real Madrid in August 2021 from Stade Rennais, Camavinga has shown remarkable adaptability. "When I have had to play, it hasn't been too tough. I spoke with the coach, but as I've always said, the most important thing is the team. Someone had to fill that position, and since I'm a team player, I played there even though I don't like it too much.

"The best thing is to give everything for the club and the team. You don't always get what you want in life, and you have to focus on the positive," he asserted.

Camavinga's humility and commitment to the team's cause have not gone unnoticed by fans and fellow players. His willingness to step into unfamiliar position underscores his dedication to the team's success.

Furthermore, the talented midfielder also reflected on his personal development as a player. He recognizes that there's always room for improvement, saying, "I still need to improve my concentration. And also, be more decisive. I had a small problem with my hamstrings. There are still some starters ahead of me. But it's important to show what I can do."

These words from Camavinga are a testament to his maturity and ambition as a young footballer. Real Madrid's midfield maestro may not always relish the left-back role, but his commitment to the team and his own self-improvement is a testament to his potential.
