Palmeiras are set to take on Chelsea in the Club World Cup quarter finals this Saturday. Both teams have given a good account of themselves so far, but who will make it to the semi-finals?

South American teams have all impressed throughout this summer's tournament, with Palmeiras being no exception. They have seen off the likes of Benfica and Inter Miami to secure their spot in the quarters and looked very confident in doing so.

Chelsea have already fallen to Brazilian opposition at this tournament, losing 3-1 to Flamengo in the group stage. Despite that setback, they went on to win their next two games by comfortable margins and now look to be in full swing.

Chelsea have scored seven in their last two games and have created the third most big chances (17) at the Club World Cup so far. Consider the fresh additions of Joao Pedro and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens who could make their Chelsea debuts on Saturday, and the Blues look like a force to be reckoned with going forward.

Palmeiras, in contrast, have been characterised by their gritty defensive performances having kept three clean sheets in their previous four games. The Brazilian side also proved their resilience in the group stage when they came back from a two-goal deficit to overcome Inter Miami and finish as group leaders.

So will Palmeiras keep up their winning streak, or will Chelsea progress to the semi-finals? Here are our predictions that could give you a 12/1 bet builder together.

    Chelsea to win

Chelsea are seen to be heavy favourites going into this game. Whilst Palmeiras are certainly a solid team, the quality that Chelsea possess in each position should see them through into the semis.

    Rios to be carded

Colombian midfielder Richard Rios has been a standout player for Palmeiras this tournament, being a pivotal part of their success so far. But for all his qualities he is prone to the odd foul, averaging 2.76 fouls per 90 throughout this competition. In a game where Chelsea’s incisive attacks could run the Palmeiras midfield ragged, we feel Rios is likely to pick up a booking.

    Palmer to score

Palmer is yet to score at this year's Club World Cup, but with his quality, he shouldn't be overlooked. Since making the move to London in 2023, he has been a talismanic figure and has scored 40 goals for Chelsea across two seasons. Factor in his 18 penalties scored from 19 taken in his career and Palmer looks like a likely candidate to impact the scoreline come Saturday.

Neto to have over 1.5 shots

In the short absence of Palmer’s prolific scoring, Pedro Neto has stepped up in this competition, scoring three goals in three games thus far. His directness and speed can cause any team problems and on his current form, he will be desperate to lay a claim to this tournament's top scorer award. That's why we back him to be active in the attacking third and carve out shooting opportunities.
