Nottingham Forest v Man City: Prediction, tips and bet builder as Citizens look to chop Tricky Trees down to size

Erling Haaland of Manchester City celebrates his goal against Ipswich Town

The battle for the top four continues this Saturday afternoon at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest welcome defending champions Manchester City (1230 GMT).

Third-placed Forest taking on fourth-placed City. This seriously feels like we’ve escaped the matrix and entered some strange new dimension.

It’s hard to say what surprises us more. The fact that Forest have been so good or just how bad City have dipped in such short amount of time.

Considering the battle for the top four is congested, this is a highly important match in the hunt for Champions League qualification. Then again, we’re probably going to copy and paste that same line in future previews. Stick around to find out.

Forest have a couple of things going against them ahead of this fixture – form and previous encounters.

The Tricky Trees have slipped up in recent weeks and they will also have to battle a three-match losing run against Manchester City.

The Citizens, on the other hand, are more unpredictable than a Donald Trump press conference. With four wins and four defeats form their last eight matches, it’s hard to know what to expect from Pep Guardiola’s men.

Nevertheless, here we take a closer look at Saturday’s fixture and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Nottingham Forest v Man City bet builder

Both teams to score – 8/15

Erling Haaland to score anytime – 19/20

Under 11.5 corners – 8/15

Chris Wood +1 shot on target – 1/3

Both teams to score

Picking a winner in this one is tough. Both teams are in mixed form, both are unpredictable, and both are brilliant when playing at their optimum.

Instead of the outrights, we like the look of both teams to score. Considering this bet has landed once in seven head-to-head meetings, we won’t judge you for scoffing at our suggestion. But please hear us out.

We all know about City’s goalscoring abilities. Afterall, they scored in nine of their last 10 matches, with Liverpool being the only ones to stop them recently.

Forest have scored in eight of their last 10, with Arsenal and Bournemouth keeping them at bay.

Both teams are dangerous up front and with Chris Wood and Erling Haaland sharing the field, the stench of goals is only getting stronger.

Erling Haaland to score anytime

Erling Haaland has scored goals against some big clubs in recent weeks. Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Tottenham all felt his wrath.

Speaking of wrath, Forest will know all about Haaland’s scary goalscoring ability. The Norwegian forward boasts six goal contributions form his last five appearances against the Tricky Trees.

With that in mind, we’re backing the big forward to strike again.

Under 11.5 corners

Man City had 20 corners against Plymouth and just three against Tottenham in the match prior.

Forest are better than Spurs at this moment and they’re also competing at home. With that in mind, this shouldn’t be a one-sided affair and as a result, we should get a conservative number of corners.

Chris Wood +1 shots on target

Nottingham Forest are a force at home and are currently on a nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

Newcastle were the last team to win at the City Ground and that was all the way back in November.

With Forest feeling comfortable at home, we expect them to produce their fair share of attacks. This should give Chris Wood his share of goal scoring opportunities.
